The flip side of wrongheaded left opposition to Israel is all the folks accusing anti-Occupation Jews (or their descendants in my case) of being antisemitic because we think leveling hospitals and universities and killing tens of thousands of civilians is bad. Current Israeli leadership and Hamas are basically mirror images of each other in their extremity and cruelty- and the hope is in those Palestinian and Israeli activists looking for unity, such as Standing Together and other similar groups.

The Israelis were accused of “extreme strategies” in prosecuting its war against Hamas. I think this means the commenter thinks they are committing war crimes but I don’t know exactly what they are doing that makes him think that, so I asked him. Accusing Israel of deliberately killing babies or plotting the death of all Palestinians or whatever, without offering any evidence, is no different from accusing Jews of killing Christian children to make matzah for Passover, without evidence. It is hate speech, the effect and purpose of which is to stir up deadly hatred of Jews. That is the blood libel and that is why I use that word. It is very precise. Anyone who doesn’t like to be in that company can find a different way to make their point.
